Frank won the GOLDEN peg!! Well done mate

Ridgeway fished reasonably well, as most people had 80lb plus in todays fishing match

After Frank Donachie's double header I am keen to get back to the venue and this was my first visit back and we had the luxury of a six hour match and I would love to see if I could break the 500lb barrier, which I honestly do believe this achievable, especially as the fish average from 6lb-8lb. The current match record is 446lb in six hours.

I caught a few long on pinging pellets, and lucky the fish rocked up down the edge.  I have tried all kinds of groundbaits, as i'm not restricted in what I can use and I have found Bait Tech Karma groundbait for down the edge has been by far the best for me.  No gimmicks, just great bait, it is very simple to mix and if you do run out of groundbait because you caught more than expected, then you can simply mix up more and it can be used straight away without having any negative effects as a result (floating, drying out to quickly, etc).  I used Karma with dead red maggots.  Either fished worms or a bunch of maggots
Top 4

1st Frank Donachie 356lb 4oz
2nd Chris Telling 336lb 7oz
3rd Martin Iles 173lb
4th Jamie Dixie 127lb

The new stripper kits have helped me immensely to get fish out very quickly!!!  I honestly caught way over 200lb in 2 hours when the fish switched on, so you may have a limited time to get these fish out!!  As we all know, carp have a nasty habbit of feeding late in the match and therefore you may find yourself rushing to get this fish out to boost your match weight.  So anything that can help me to acheieve better results has to be a bonsus.

Also the Colmic PK55 top kits are light and immensely strong with a large bore on the top kit, therefore think elastics like Vespe Bi Core 3.2mm can be used with confidence.  I used them with double 14 solid elastic at Rolfs lake, on peg 34, and this test your pole gear to the limited!  No breakages................ enough said!

These Colmic top kits are very good and do kit many poles, so maybe check them out!!  You won't be disappointed.  So could be worth investing some money into these great top kits for your pole.

These Colmic PK55 top kits retail at £64.00.  There are 2.75 meters long.

Thanks to Martin for running the match.

I was disappointed with my draw to be honest, but was surprised how many F1's were there was.  I caught a lot of stock fish that were put in a while back,  I only had 6 carp, a tench, a dog roach, a small skimmer and a lot of F1's.

Some of the F1's in Manor Farm Leisure are HUGE, and don't take long to build a weight.  I've had them up to 5lb, but there are anglers that have had them much bigger!!!  There is a lot of 2lb to 3lbers

Map meat cutters truly are worth the investment.
Groundbait and meat can work well down the edge, I like using Bait Tech's Karma with meat.
Lidi meat is good.

There are some stunning Ghost carp in all the lakes, but Boundary Pool does seem to have the most.

I was lucky again with the draw bag, peg 6 spot on really, anywhere in the middle of Middle Pool is normally very consistent. I caught pellet shallow and caught around 20 carp down the edge, so of the carp were a decent size.  Fished maggots and Special G Green down the edge and 6mm pellets at 16 meters.

Caught some big fish down the edge on maggots

Manor Farm Leisure - Boundary Pool

  • Peg 6
  • 26lb
  • Section Win
  • All skimmers bar one small F1
  • 29 fished
I was a little disappointed with drawing peg 6 as the wind was blowing hard down the another end of the lake.  However, it worth fishing for £47.00 section, so I set up my stool to hopefully achieve that.  I hoped to catch skimmers and odd F1's and some carp late.  However after two hours and not a carp in sight, only skimmers and this was a bit of a come down from Wednesday's match.

The match was a real struggle and I only caught 1 F1 (about a 1lb) and the rest skimmers from 4oz to 12oz.  So had turned a bad day into a reasonable good days fishing and a section win.  If I fished for skimmers all match, then would of framed.
